The stripes of this endangered beauty are as unique as your fingerprint. When a foal is born, they have reddish-brown stripes which gradually become darker and change to black as they grow. Surprisingly, these bold stripes actually aid the zebra in camouflage, because lions (a major predator of the zebra) are color blind! To them, everything is seen in black and white, so the zebra blends right in to its environment.
